SUMMER HEAT FIGHTS

This Saturday, July 8th, the KRONK amateur team is back in action! Detroit Golden Gloves continues their commitment to a strong series of amateur boxing shows across metro Detroit as they return to the New Way Training Center in Shelby Township with a full Saturday of boxing action called "Summer Heat 1".

KRONK will be showcasing 4 boxers including Jirair Thompson, Deonte Carter, Darrin Watkins and Jay Martin. Despite losing in the final bout of the National Golden Gloves, Thompson was impressive throughout the tournament did qualify to attend the US Olympic Trials. However, upon returning to Detroit, Thompson took an unexpected loss in last bout and looks to get back in the winner's circle with a much-needed win. Cousins, Carter and Watkins have continued to show much progress over the past year as both are on the verge of becoming "open class" boxers. Lastly, there is much anticipation of Jay Martin returning for only his second fight after training with former KRONK world champion, Johnathon Banks. Banks, who is known for his "Emanuel Steward" like approach to teaching boxing has worked with such greats as Wladimir Klitschko, GGG and Badou Jack among others.
